Team Merrald is one of the most shining examples of family success within the equestrian sport in Denmark. A family were you find true horsemanship and a work ethic next to none.
Based at Lykkesholm, an equestrian facility in the country side of Hvalsoe, the Merrald family is dedicated to the equestrian sport on all levels. Their facility hosts Hvalsoe Riding Club – a club with a broad scope and ambition to educate students in both jumping and dressage. Nanna Merrald is the family’s no. 1 sports star and a member of Team Denmark, Denmark’s Olympic talent programme. She is also winner of multiple international YR and Junior titles – and even as YR of Senior titles. Besides her own top level tournament riding she finds time to be teaching students at Lykkesholm. Sandra, equally talented to Nanna, has chosen to pursue a Bio Engineering Degree besides dressage riding – and thus has to part her time between ‘jobs’ – naturally scaling her tournament participation and focus down a bit. Mother Helle, also a competitive dressage rider, is responsible for the management of the Lykkesholm facility. Father; Torben is Chef d’equipe.
All the family’s international tournament horses have all been acquired as young horses and educated up to S/GP level by the Team Merrald in union; Helle, Sandra and Nanna. The team is trained by professional Michael Sogaard, who visits Lykkesholm once a week.
