Congratulations to Linn Olsson, leading horse blogger of Sweden, who has acquired the very talented LarCas Soraya. Linn first tried out LarCas Soraya in early October at Elenore Simbergs stable, and it was as Linn describes it on her private blogg: ‘Love at First Sight’. The 4 YO mare was shown in excellent style by Elenore Simberg, and with her elastic and expressive gaits LarCas Soraya impressed Linn from the first moment. Linn’s decision to buy was made after trying Soraya out a second time just a week later. Soraya passed her Vet Check in style this week, and is now finally Linn’s new horse.
Roly Owers, chief executive of the World Horse Welfare Organisation, gave an important presentation at the 2014 FEI General Assembly in Baku (AZE) addressing the national federations’ delegates. Owers questions whether the international equestrian community is doing enough to ensure high horse welfare standards and he appeals to the FEI to challenge the current status.
In his presentation Mr. Owers refers to the education video ‘Correct Dressage and Horse Welfare’ that we have produced for the Danish Equestrian Federation this summer in corporation with FEI 5* Judge Leif Törnblad and the DRF Dressage Committee:
Without doubt education is so important here; hence it is very encouraging that the Danish Equestrian Federation has produced a video which uses novel graphics and film to show the standard of riding they expect. I would suggest these kinds of videos are exactly the kind of communications Federations need to show their riders – and aspiring riders and members of the public – so everyone knows what good riding looks like, and what is not acceptable.
This year it is 30 years ago that the danish government decided to implement the law about supporting of elite sport.
1984 TEAM DENMARK was established. The anniversary is celebrated with a collection of 30 golden moment. Amongst the golden moments is Anne Grethe Törnblad and her horse Marzog winning the World Championships in Dressage in 1986. What a truly golden moment!
